Does the platform include the specific modules you need? Evaluate each module against your requirements, not against a generic feature checklist. A platform that lists 'incident management' as a feature may offer a simple reporting form or a sophisticated investigation workflow with root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, and trend analytics. The most analytically sophisticated EHS platform fails if frontline workers do not use it. Evaluate the mobile experience specifically — not the desktop experience. After go-live, you will have questions, need configuration changes, and face situations the initial implementation did not anticipate. Evaluate the vendor's support model: is support included or billed separately? What are the response time commitments? Is there a dedicated customer success resource, or is support handled by a general helpdesk?
The EHS software market is in the middle of a significant AI transition. Platforms that are not investing in AI-assisted analytics, predictive risk surfacing, and automated insights will be at a significant disadvantage within three to five years.
