EHS Insight 26.9: Smarter Chemical Inventory & AI-Powered Vendor Document Reviews

Written by Sarah Gordon | August 10, 2026 at 5:55 PM

The 26.9 release introduces powerful enhancements designed to simplify chemical inventory management and streamline vendor qualification. With a new transaction-based approach to chemical inventory tracking and AI-assisted vendor document reviews, organizations can improve accuracy, save time, and gain greater confidence in critical EHS processes.

Here's what's new.

Smarter Chemical Inventory Tracking with Transaction-Based Inventory

Organizations that manage hazardous materials know that maintaining accurate inventory is essential, not only for day-to-day operations, but also for regulatory reporting. The new Transaction-Based Chemical Inventory form provides a more dynamic way to track chemical inventory by recording every purchase and usage transaction as it happens.

Unlike traditional periodic inventory counts, this new approach gives teams real-time visibility into onsite material quantities while creating a complete history of inventory activity.

What's New

  • New Transaction-Based Chemical Inventory form available within the Chemical Management module
  • Track inventory with a dedicated record for each material at each business entity
  • Record every purchase and usage transaction to maintain real-time inventory totals
  • Scan material QR codes to quickly update inventory directly at the point of use
  • Complete transaction history provides visibility into inventory movement and usage trends

Better EPA Tier II Reporting

Accurate reporting becomes significantly easier with enhanced reporting capabilities built specifically for transaction-based inventory.

The updated Chemical Inventory Tier II Log automatically rolls up material inventory by chemical composition across each business entity, performing the required composition calculations behind the scenes. This allows organizations to quickly compare chemical totals against state-specific reporting thresholds without manual calculations.

Additional reports also provide visibility into:

  • Current onsite inventory levels
  • Material transactions
  • Historical inventory trends
  • Material usage over time

Whether you're preparing for EPA Tier II reporting or simply looking for better insight into chemical usage, transaction-based inventory provides the accuracy and traceability needed to stay ahead.

AI-Assisted Vendor Document Reviews

Keeping vendor documentation current is critical, but manually reviewing every uploaded certificate, insurance document, or qualification record can be time-consuming.

Vendor Management now includes EHS Insight's AI-powered Document Review, an intelligent assistant that analyzes uploaded vendor documents before they're approved, helping reviewers quickly identify potential issues while maintaining full control over the approval process.

What's New

When a vendor document is uploaded, EHS Insight's AI automatically evaluates it against configurable review rules and assigns one of three statuses:

  • Passed – The document matches a supported document type and all validation checks succeed.
  • Flagged – One or more issues were detected, such as an expired document or a company name that doesn't match the vendor record.
  • Not Analyzed – The document type isn't currently supported for AI analysis, such as unsupported file formats or unrecognized document types.

Rather than replacing human review, EHS Insight's AI acts as an additional layer of protection by highlighting documents that deserve closer attention before approval.

Key Benefits

  • Automatically identify expired, incorrect, or incomplete vendor documents
  • Reduce the likelihood of approval mistakes
  • Focus reviewer attention on documents that require manual inspection
  • Maintain reviewer control over all approval decisions

Deliver More Accuracy with Less Manual Work

Version 26.9 continues EHS Insight's focus on helping organizations automate routine work while improving the quality of their EHS data.

From real-time chemical inventory tracking that simplifies EPA Tier II reporting to EHS Insight's AI-powered vendor document reviews that help catch issues before approval, these enhancements reduce manual effort while giving teams greater confidence in the information they rely on every day.

As always, thank you for being part of the EHS Insight community. Stay tuned for more enhancements in future releases.
