EHS Insight vs Novara Flex: compare OSHA recordkeeping, investigation management, AI analytics, and what the KPA spin-off means for buyers.
EHS Insight and Novara Flex (formerly KPA Flex) are both mid-market EHS platforms that sell to industrial organizations in construction, manufacturing, utilities, oil and gas, and transportation. They serve the same buyer, and in G2's Fall 2026 data they hold the same 4.6 star rating on the same 83 reviews (G2 compare page). The difference is what each platform was built to do well, and that difference grows as your safety program matures. This post is part of our EHS software comparison series.
Updated October 5, 2026 with G2 Fall 2026 data.
EHS Insight helps safety teams run the full EHS program in one system, from the first frontline report to the corrective action that closes it. Organizations in manufacturing, construction, energy, chemical, and mining use it to replace spreadsheets, paper forms, and disconnected point tools.
The platform covers incident reporting, near miss capture, OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 recordkeeping, investigation and root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, audits and inspections, compliance obligations, Legal Register, Permit Management, training, chemical inventory and SDS management, environmental tracking, and ESG reporting in one modular system. AI runs inside those workflows rather than as a separate product. See the full list of EHS Insight AI capabilities.
On G2, EHS Insight holds a 4.6 out of 5 star rating across 83 reviews (G2). In the G2 Fall 2026 reports, EHS Insight earned 13 badges and ranked #1 in six index reports, including the Mid-Market Usability Index and Mid-Market Relationship Index for Environmental Health and Safety (see the Fall 2026 G2 results). EHS Insight is also recognized as a 2026 Leader by Capterra and Software Advice and appears in the Verdantix Green Quadrant for the second time.
Novara Flex is a configurable EHS platform focused on frontline safety workflows and operational risk management. It operated as KPA Flex until January 2026, when KPA separated its automotive compliance business from its industrial safety software and launched Novara as an independent company under CEO Michael Bruns. Providence Equity Partners retains majority ownership of both companies (EHS Today, January 28, 2026).
Novara has moved quickly since the separation. In June 2026 it acquired Ensogo, a Toronto-based AI sustainability platform, to add carbon accounting, ESG data collection, and AI engineering talent to Flex (ESG Today, June 11, 2026). Days later it launched Form Agent, an AI tool that turns paper forms and PDFs into digital workflows (GlobeNewswire, June 16, 2026).
Novara Flex's core strengths are configurability and ease of use: a flexible form builder, customizable workflows, inspections, a built-in training library, and mobile access for field teams. G2 reviewers back this up. Novara Flex scores 9.2 for Ease of Use and 8.6 for Ease of Setup, ahead of EHS Insight at 8.8 and 7.7, and its most-cited pros are Ease of Use (10 reviews) and Customer Support (8 reviews) (G2 compare page).
The same G2 data shows a tension. Despite a configurability-first pitch, the most-cited cons on Novara Flex are Limited Customization (6 reviews) and Limited Options (6 reviews). One reviewer wrote in August 2026, "I find the speed of Novara Flex slower since its change from KPA" (G2 Novara Flex reviews). On Capterra, a reviewer called the platform "not as feature rich as other EHS applications" (Capterra Novara Flex reviews).
Both platforms now ship AI, so the useful question for your team is how far AI reaches into daily EHS work.
Novara's AI, based on its June 2026 announcements, centers on building forms faster. Form Agent extracts fields, checkboxes, dates, and signatures from a document and lets admins refine the draft in plain language. Novara says it cuts form digitization "from hours to minutes." Novara also offers Flex AI, an assistant trained on EHS content, and ASSP's Safety Trekr AI inside Flex. Novara says the Ensogo integration will add predictive risk modeling and natural language analytics.
EHS Insight's AI works across the program lifecycle, from data capture to analysis to action. Capabilities in production today include:
If AI is a selection criterion, ask each vendor to run the same workflow on your data: an incident from report to closed corrective action, and a permit from PDF to assigned compliance tasks.
Both platforms offer mobile apps, and G2 reviewers rate both well. EHS Insight scores 9.7 for Mobile Access (30 responses) to Novara Flex's 9.3 (41 responses) in the G2 Fall 2026 compare report (G2 Fall 2026 compare report). That lead narrowed from Summer 2026, when EHS Insight scored 10.0.
Offline access is where the difference shows in the field. The EHS Insight mobile app lets crews capture data, complete inspections, and log incidents without internet access, then syncs when connectivity returns. More than 500,000 users rely on it. On Capterra, a Novara Flex reviewer cited "the inability to view equipment offline on the mobile app." For oil and gas, construction, mining, and remote field operations, test offline behavior on your own devices before you commit.
If your team carries significant US OSHA obligations, both platforms cover the forms. Novara Flex generates OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 forms from a single incident report and keeps the required five-year history (Novara OSHA recordkeeping). EHS Insight does the same inside its Incident Management module, where you can generate the forms and print or submit reports electronically. The difference is what happens after the record: in EHS Insight, the same incident flows into investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action without leaving the module. G2 reviewers rate the two close on Injury and Illness (9.2 vs. 9.0) and further apart on Corrective Actions (9.3 vs. 8.9) (G2).
Your goal is incidents that get investigated and fixed, not just logged. EHS Insight provides structured investigation workflows with root cause analysis, contributing factor identification, and corrective action routing. Novara Flex includes incident tracking with configurable follow-up actions. On G2, EHS Insight leads on Workflows (8.6 vs. 7.9) and Operational Risk (9.4 vs. 8.6) (G2).
You need one place to see every regulatory obligation and permit condition, with an owner and a due date. EHS Insight's Legal Register module centralizes obligations, and in September 2026 EHS Insight released Permit Management with AI-powered extraction, which breaks permits into individual requirements, links them to compliance tasks, and forecasts expirations 30 to 270 days out. Novara Flex covers compliance tracking through configurable forms and tasks. We did not find dedicated Legal Register or Permit Management modules on Novara's site at the time of this update. G2 reviewers score EHS Insight 8.9 on Permits to Novara Flex's 8.1 (G2).
This is Novara Flex's clearest advantage. Admins tailor forms and workflows without developers, and G2 reviewers rate Novara Flex ahead on Ease of Use (9.2 vs. 8.8), Ease of Setup (8.6 vs. 7.7), and Ease of Admin (9.0 vs. 8.8) (G2). Novara also packages a built-in library of interactive, multilingual training courses. If fast frontline digitization and packaged training content are your primary criteria, evaluate Novara Flex seriously.
EHS Insight treats training as part of the program record. The Training Management module handles assignments by role and location, certificate expiration tracking, and SCORM uploads, and the OpenSesame partnership opens a catalog of more than 50,000 courses. G2 reviewers score EHS Insight higher on Flexibility (9.4 vs. 8.8) and Certifications (9.6 vs. 7.9) (G2).
G2 reviewers report a faster start with Novara Flex: 3 months to implement and 10 months to ROI, versus 4 months and 20 months for EHS Insight (G2). Sample sizes are small (6 and 5 responses for Novara Flex, 16 and 14 for EHS Insight), so ask both vendors for implementation references from companies your size and in your industry.
Novara is about nine months into operating as a standalone company, with a new name, new leadership, and an acquisition in its first year. Those moves signal investment, and they also bring the change that comes with any spin-off. One G2 reviewer noted in August 2026 that Flex feels slower since the change from KPA. EHS Insight has kept a steady release cadence, shipping versions 26.7 through 26.13 between June and October 2026 with custom AI agents, Permit Management, and Audit Programs. G2 reviewers score EHS Insight 9.4 on Product Direction to Novara Flex's 9.1 (G2).
EHS Insight publishes a starting price of $5,000 per year for its Small and Medium Business Solution, with cost scaling by contacts, modules, and implementation needs (EHS Insight pricing). G2 lists no public pricing for Novara Flex (G2). Both vendors quote based on headcount and the modules or content you select.

It depends on whether you need fast frontline rollout or full EHS program depth. Novara Flex leads on G2 Ease of Setup (8.6 vs. 7.7) and averages 3 months to implement. EHS Insight leads on Meets Requirements (9.0 vs. 8.7) and Quality of Support (9.2 vs. 8.8), and adds Legal Register, Permit Management, and connected investigation workflows for programs that need regulatory depth.
Yes, Novara launched Form Agent, an AI form builder, in Flex on June 16, 2026. Form Agent turns paper forms and PDFs into digital workflows, and Novara also offers Flex AI, an assistant trained on EHS content. EHS Insight lists 14 named AI capabilities, including SIF precursor detection, custom data analysis agents, Permit AI, and an MCP Connector for assistants like Claude and ChatGPT.
Yes, both EHS Insight and Novara Flex generate OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 forms. The difference is what happens after the record. In EHS Insight, the same incident flows into investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action inside one module. G2 reviewers score the two close on Injury and Illness (9.2 vs. 9.0) and further apart on Corrective Actions (9.3 vs. 8.9).
Novara Flex has operated under an independent company, Novara, since January 2026. Providence Equity Partners retains majority ownership of both KPA and Novara. In its first six months, Novara named CEO Michael Bruns, acquired Toronto-based Ensogo in June 2026, and launched Form Agent. One G2 reviewer noted in August 2026 that Flex feels slower since the change from KPA, so ask about performance during evaluation.
EHS Insight scores 9.7 for Mobile Access on G2, ahead of Novara Flex at 9.3. EHS Insight's mobile app captures inspections, incidents, and observations without internet access and syncs when connectivity returns. A Capterra reviewer cited the inability to view equipment offline in the Novara Flex mobile app. EHS Insight's lead narrowed this season, from 10.0 in Summer 2026 to 9.7 in Fall 2026.
EHS Insight publishes a starting price of $5,000 per year, and Novara Flex does not publish pricing. G2 reviewers report faster time to value for Novara Flex: 3 months to implement and 10 months to ROI, versus 4 months and 20 months for EHS Insight. Response counts are small (6 and 5 for Novara Flex, 16 and 14 for EHS Insight), so ask both vendors for references in your industry.
